There are many chemical, ecological, physical and mechanical laboratory tests in shoe tests. The tests to be applied vary according to need.
What Are the Chemical Tests Performed in Shoe Tests?
In shoe tests, in order to examine the chemical reliability of the product, all components in the shoe must be tested separately. A shoe can contain many materials such as textile, leather, artificial leather, PVC, rubber, plastic. The different colors of these materials should also be evaluated separately.
The main chemical tests that can be performed on these different colored and structured components are as follows:
Phthalate Determination
Organic Tin Determination
DOT Determination
Chromium VI Determination
Azo Dye Determination
Allergenic & Carcinogenic Dye Determination
Dimethyl Fumarate (DMFu) Determination
Dimethyl Formamide (DMFa) Determination
pH Determination
Formaldehyde Determination

All transactions related to the import inspection of shoe products within the scope of this circular are carried out through TAREKS (Risk-Based Control System in Foreign Trade) and according to risk analysis.
According to this circular, before importing your shoe products, you must have the following laboratory tests performed by an accredited and licensed laboratory.
Phthalate Determination
Chromium VI Determination
DOT Determination
Azo Dyestuff Determination
MASS Laboratory is a laboratory that has TS EN ISO IEC 17025 accreditation for all these tests and is licensed by the Ministry of Trade.
What are the Tests Performed in the Domestic Shoe Market Surveillance?
Shoe manufacturers need to have some laboratory tests done to show the quality of their products in order to safely offer their shoes for sale in the domestic market.
At this point, there may be different guide documents and manuals depending on the institution where the shoe products will be offered, and companies need to create their own manuals and have the necessary tests done for their products.
You can contact us for the physical and chemical tests in the manuals you are trying to comply with or to create your own manual and have your products tested.
What are the tests performed for quality control purposes in shoe production?
Shoe manufacturers create control points at many stages from the supplied raw material to the finished product control to prove that their products are of a certain quality and reliability level.
The chemical content and physical durability of the supplied raw materials can be checked with the reports requested from the supplier company, and you can also perform an additional control by reaching out to Mass Laboratory.
In shoe tests, shoe manufacturers perform tests such as product function tests, life tests, and durability tests in order to develop solutions at the design stage by determining in advance the behaviors that the product will exhibit in various situations that it may encounter during use.
In addition to these tests, manufacturing companies prefer Mass Laboratory, an independent and accredited organization, for many physical and chemical tests.
What are the tests performed in shoe exports?
Just like in the import phase, the product must be tested in accordance with the legislation of the country to which it will be exported. In terms of exporting shoe products, sending reliable and healthy products is very important in terms of not destroying the products and both the company and the country's prestige.
The export legislation of each country may vary. Therefore, if you want to export your shoe products, contact us and let's discuss the shoe tests that need to be applied and the test results together.
What Information Should Be Included on Shoe Labels?
There is some information that should be included in the “Regulation on Labeling of Materials Used in the Production of Basic Elements of Shoes to be Purchased by the Consumer (94/11/EC)” warning on shoe products.
The shoe label is placed on one or both pairs of shoes by printing, gluing, embossing or attaching.
The label contains information on the material that makes up at least 80% of the upper surface of the shoe, the inner lining and sole, and the material that makes up at least 80% of the outer sole volume. Information on the materials used in shoe production should be collected on the shoe.
The label should be visible, securely attached, accessible, and the dimensions of the figures on it should be large enough to allow the information contained therein to be understood. The label should not mislead the consumer.
